Proffiting from domain investment

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

If you have a domain name that you are not using, or a site that
you have to take down for some reason, then the traffic that
goes to that site is doing you no good at all. Instead of
leaving the domain blank, or letting your hosting company (Like
godaddy) get free publicity on your page, you can make money off
your pages by letting a domain parking company place ads on your
page that will be displayed to any visitors. You still own the
website and the domain, you just let them put ads on the pages
for however long you want.

Just simply park your domain on sedo, then point your domain
name to sedo server or redirect the domain to address something
like :

http://www.sedoparking.com/yourdomain.com

Then, Conveniently receive your monthly payments via Paypal once
your earnings have reached only $20! If you do not have paypal
sedo will send you an international wire transfer, anywhere in
the world at no additional cost (earnings must reach $50 for
wire transfer payments)

How to Profit From Other People Articles

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

If you are not a writer you can still profit from article marketing. The theory still holds true content is king and the way you use content can make you big money.

There are thousands of people publishing articles everyday. They are dying for a place to put those articles. Why not give them a location to post their articles. You will have a site that is consistently updated, a consistent flow of visitors stopping by and an enormous web site full of keywords that are search engine friendly.

Number 1 you will need a webhosting account. There are thousands of places that offer web hosting. Some as low as $2.99 per account all the way up to your own hosted server costing a thousand per month. For starters you will need a web hosting account that allows you to run php scripts. Php is widely used programming language that is easy to work with and accepted on most hosting environments.

In addition to a hosting account allowing php you will probably need a mysql account option with your hosting service. Mysql is a database software that is very common. Shared hosting services may allow you one account with limited storage space. Article directories can get large in terms of data stored on your hosting account so error on the side of too big instead of too small when it comes to hosting space.

Now that you have a server in place you will need a domain. Your hosting company can help with getting a domain and setting it up on your server. If you are more experienced you can purchase your domain from companies like godaddy.com.

If you know your way around php you should have no problem installing and setting up a pre purchased php script to run your article directory. If you are a novice that is no problem either, the php script authors sometimes offer free installation or installation for a small fee. If you need a php programmer you can post the job on one of the freelance sites like scriptlance. There are tons of very qualified programmers on these sites that will bid for your business.

To profit from your article directory you could choose to place Adsense Ads on your sites. Adsense is a monetizing program operated by Google. You can go to Google select advertising to set up your account. Google will provide you with a small script that you cut and paste into your html design. Google will automatically serve up targeted ads based on the content of the page.

The technical side should be out of the way. Your article directory should be operational allowing you to enter articles and publish them to your site fairly easily. Once your site is open for business it is time to invite authors to publish there articles at your site.

I very easy method is to contact article submission services like Article Marketer to include your article directory in their automated submissions. You can also contact article submission software owners to include your web site in their postings. When your article directory is included in automated submission services or software program you site will automatically receive articles submitted by the members using these services. You could get hundreds of articles on to your site in just a few days.

In addition to automated submission services you will want to use standard traffic driving techniques to grab as much traffic as you can for your site. You might try searching article directory lists and post your site anywhere you find them. You could also start an email list targeting article publishers. Create a blog picking out a special article or tip on article marketing. These are just a few ideas to get your article directory up and running filled with excellent content and ready to make you money.

Ssl Security and Why It’s So Important for your Business

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

SSL stands for secure socket layer. This is what is used in making transactions on the internet secure. Many companies use ssl “secure socket layer” to encrypt important information. This could be for when people log into a website, use forms, securing shopping carts, etc.

Now I’m sure you may be wondering where to find a company that provides ssl “secure socket layer?” I find godaddy a inexpensive way to purchase a ssl “secure socket layer” for any business.

Some helpful tips on purchasing a ssl certificate:

1. Choose a company that is reptable and provides the ssl “Secure Socket Layer that your in need of.”

2. You will need a dedicated Ip address.
What is a dedicated Ip Address? A dedicated IP address is a unique set of identifying numbers for a web site. No other website will be hosted on these numbers except for your website. This is very necessary for a e-commerce website. What is e-commerce you may ask? E-commerce (electronic commerce or EC) is the buying and selling of goods and services on the Internet, especially the World Wide Web. How do I get a dedicated Ip address? To get a dedicated Ip address you will need to contact the company that is hosting your website. You will need to pay for hosting and NOT try doing this on a free server or free hosting company.

3. Once you have chosen the company for your ssl “Secure Socket Layer” you will need to purchase the service.

4. Once you have purchased your ssl “Secure Socket Layer” you will need to go through the process of setting this on the provider of the ssl “Secure Socket Layer.”

5. Once you have purchased your ssl “Secure Socket Layer” you will need to contact your hosting provider and have them setup the ssl information on the server.

6. A good example of a ssl certificate in use goto:
Inspirational Hearts and click on secure connection.

Now I’m sure your asking your self why is this so important for my Business? Thats a good question. To answer your question, many people that purchase on the internet are wanting security. Getting a ssl “Secure Socket Layer” can help entice more sales.

Build a Website with NO HTML

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

If you have been wanting a website of your own for a long time, but have been scared due to lack of HTML knowledge, you can still have a happy home on the web…and I can show you how! The first thing you need to know is that, contrary to popular belief, you do NOT need to know HTML in order to have your own website. In fact, building a website can be so easy that even a child can do it!

The first thing you need to know about building an HTML-free website is that the type of “webhost” or “host” that you need to look for is a website host with a website editor. Sometimes these are called: editors, wysiwyg(pronounced “whiz-e-wig” and an acronym for “What You See Is What You Get) editors, site builders, site editors, or even template builders. But the most important thing you need to know is that you DO NOT have to go with a “free” hosting company that forces advertisements on your page. While companies like Freewebs, Bravenet, Geocities, etc. do provide an easy sitebuilder, they don’t allow you the freedom of your own domain name, FULL control over your website, or add-free webspace. Many non-free hosting companies have easy sitebuilders as well – and you can often get this type of hosting very cheap, as low as $2 per month or possibly less!

When you use non-free website hosting you can use your own domain names, use a more professional @yourdomain.com email address, install different scripts on your website, and much more! And all of this is much easier than it sounds.

The first thing you will need to do to set up your own website, is to purchase a domain name. There are many different domain registrars on the internet. godaddy is the one we recommend, however a Google search for domain registration will also give you many different results. Once you have purchased your first domain, you will need to purchase website hosting. Check out my author bio for my own hosting company which offers reasonable hosting services. Once you have purchased webhosting, you will receive information from your new webhost that will contain your new nameservers. You can try to set your domain nameservers yourself by logging into your domain purchasing account, however it might be easier just to call the company you purchased the domain from and ask them to change the nameservers for you.

Once you’ve set your domain’s nameservers, the rest is easy. Login to your new website’s control panel, and login to their particular editor (you, did of course remember to purchase from a website host that had an easy sitebuilder right?) and begin building your HTML free website. Publish it to your directory, and voila! You now have your very own domain, your very own website, and full control over all of it, at very little cost and with NO knowledge of HTML. Congratulations!

Can I transfer my hosting (godaddy) to a different domain?

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Ive got godaddy hosting but it isnt good enough for my site. So I have another domain that is currently parked but I thought maybe I could transfer my hosting to that site. Is that possible?

You can have anyone host your domain services. They are yours as long as you pay for them. You just need to point your domain’s host name(s) at the IP address that your hoster gives to you.

For example, you can buy your domain from GoDaddy. Purchase hosting services from another company like Verizon or Network Solutions. Then point your domain to the IP address provided by the hosting company.

GoDaddy and your new hoster can help you with the process. Don’t be afraid to give them a call.
They know specifics that are not available here at Y! Answers.

I hope this helps.

Templates for E-commerce Web Hosting

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Creating a professional website can be challenging. E-commerce web design is really a complex animal. To cut development time, many web hosting companies start offering web hosting templates or hosting with templates.

Whether you’re looking for a simple web site or a functional e-commerce website, the chances are that you may be able to find a few web templates from your hosting company. A simple web template may cost under $20 dollars, but a well-designed professional e-commerce website will cost a few hundreds or more if not thousands. The cost of web templates is still cheap comparing to custom-made e-commerce websites when Web designers charge anywhere from $20 to $100 per hour. If you want to check out some templates, go to www.templates box.com

Besides the requirements of standard web hosting plans, Web hosting templates for e-commerce operations needs a shopping cart that supports online catalog and online payment processing (here’s a clue, pick Pay Pal). Web templates for e-commerce often include common pages and navigations for online shopping – searching or browsing products, adding items to shopping carts and making payment. The web templates for e-commerce do not include or connect to any specific shopping cart. It’s up to the webmasters to add shopping cart to the site.

The alternative e-commerce hosting to web templates is e-commerce turnkey solution. EBay Stores, Yahoo! and godaddy.com are the most popular turn-key e-commerce solutions for small businesses that want to setup online stores easily. Different hosting plans may have different free structures. The cost of each hosting plan often varies on transaction volume.

When comparing functionality, there’re many questions to ask: 1) whether a shopping cart accepts online check or debit card. 2) Whether there’s a limit on the number of products and categories that you can setup; 3) whether it automatically sends out an email notification once an order is placed at your web-site.

When looking at the cost of commerce operation, you’ll need to ask questions about 1) what’s the basic monthly fee for transactions; 2) is there’s a setup fee for a new online store; 3) how about handling taxes?; 4) how much it charges for each transaction.

Talk with your hosting service on e-commerce issues and discuss the best plan to go with.

What is the difference between a web host like Joyent and a basic hosting company like GoDaddy?

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I'm trying to figure out which company to use for hosting the database that will be required for my small business. The business helps clients crunch certain information using a database (likely written in php).

I was referred to Joyent and it looks like a solid cloud host, but I'm also familiar with godaddy and they are much cheaper. Are they in the same ballpark in terms of what they can offer?

I haven't tried Joyent but I'd stay away from godaddy.
Personally I have found IX to be the best of the lot.

How do I host my godaddy website on my own computer?

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

I have a Godaddy website, and I want to host it on my computer, I have a ftp server, but Godaddy won't tell me how to put it on there. I AM GETTING VERY ANNOYED!!!!

You're also going to need a web server (I recommend Apache). FTP all the files (and folders) from your site to the htdocs folder the Apache installation will create. (Apache is free and, if you're on a Linux box at GoDaddy, that's probably the web server your site runs on.)

You'll also have to have your computer running 24/7/365 and, if you're running a router (or a routing modem), you'll have to go into the router and forward port 80 to your computer (it's blocked by default).

Also – if your provider blocks port 80 (mine does, unless I pay for a commercial connection, which would cost me more than the combined monthly payments on both my cars), you'll have to use port 81, or something else, and people will have to put that number into their browsers to connect to you (like http://www.yoursite.com:81/)

Also, unless you want people to have to type in your IP address, you'll have to keep a page on godaddy redirecting them to your site, or you can get a free dynamic DNS service, like DynDNS.com of noip.com.

And after all that (unless you're buying more than you need), you'll probably save about $35/year. For me it wouldn't be worth the hassle, although I maintain a few sites here at home to play with and learn, but I also let GoDaddy (good choice of hosting company, btw) host the site I want up all the time.
